I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Architectural History at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, based in Chicago.

Situated at the intersection of intellectual, environmental, and architectural history, my research examines how American architects constructed understandings of national identity. My dissertation and first book project, titled “Nature and Nation: An Environmental History of Architectural Ideas in the United States, 1840-1940,” examines how the experience of changing environmental conditions shaped American architects’ understanding of national history. My second project, tentatively titled “‘All the Past is Ours:’ American Architecture and the Meanings of World History,” explores American architects’ engagement with non-European architectural traditions.

I recently published an article about the Crystal Palace in Architectural Histories, and am preparing another one about the political perception of lichens’ agency on construction stones in the 19th-century United States. I have presented my work at various venues, including the 2025 EAHN Thematic Conference ‘Microhistories of Architecture,’ the 2025 AHRA Annual Conference, and the 2025 Buell Dissertation Colloquium at Columbia University. I will be presenting my work and co-chairing a session at the College Art Association 115th Annual Conference held in New York in Spring 2027.

In parallel to my research, I have developed and taught lecture courses in architectural history at Wellesley College (“Architecture and Urbanism in North America”) and in architectural theory at the Rhode Island School of Design (“Architecture and the Environment”).

Prior to arriving at Harvard, I was trained as an architect at the ENSA Paris La Villette (Licence’s, Master’s, Licensure) and worked as a project architect for various firms. I have served as a studio instructor for the Harvard Design Discovery Program, and often participate in the M.Arch. Core and Thesis mid-term and final reviews as a guest critic.
